If the confinement is extended for two weeks, it is to coincide with the start of the school year, scheduled for March 15, and to organize the return of the 100,000 students of the island to class with a controlled health protocol.
The capacity to accommodate children will be reduced to avoid contamination.
The contaminations curve, deaths linked to Covid-19 and hospitalizations have increased exponentially in Mayotte from the beginning of January until mid-February.

The incidence rate approached 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the positivity rate exceeded 30%, the number of confirmed cases in one week was more than 2,300 and the number of hospitalized people was around 150 people.
As of January 18, there were 579 cases over a week, only 13 people hospitalized and an incidence rate of 207 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
To relieve the hospital staff, reinforcements from the army and civil security arrived in Mayotte, and Covid-19 patients were evacuated by medical plane to the Reunion University Hospital.

Travelers must send their supporting documents six days before their trip to the prefecture, which will notify them two days before their trip if the reasons are justified or not.
