The wildfire in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, took place on the 25th, four days after the outbreak, but the fire continues to spread.

Since there is no prospect of extinguishing the fire, the Self-Defense Forces will resume fire extinguishing activities by helicopter from the morning of the 25th.

According to Tochigi Prefecture, the wildfire that broke out in Nishinomiya-cho, Ashikaga City on the 21st of this month has continued to spread, and as of 5:30 pm on the 24th, about 76.5 hectares have been burnt and are spreading further.



Ashikaga City has issued evacuation advisories to a total of 177 households in the city, saying that there is a risk of fire spreading to residential areas, and the evacuation centers set up in three places in the city are on the night of the 24th. At that time, 37 people from 21 households were evacuated.



According to the East Nippon Expressway, the Kita Kanto Expressway, which runs near the site, is closed on some sections from the night of the 24th.



According to the city, no one has been injured by the fire so far, but the wooden shrine building in the mountains has been completely destroyed.



In two places, such as the area where the fire spread approached the residential area, water discharge activities from the ground continued even at night, but there is no prospect of extinguishing the fire.



On the 25th, the Self-Defense Forces will resume fire extinguishing activities from the sky by helicopter from around 6:30 am.
