Woody Allen has returned to

defend himself against

the accusations he has received for years from Mia Farrow, after the premiere of the documentary series

"Allen v. Farrow"

, which recovers the complaints against the filmmaker for alleged sexual abuse.

"These documentary makers had no interest in seeking the truth. Instead, they spent years covertly collaborating with the Farrows to create

a work riddled with falsehoods,

" the director said.

In a statement sent to

The Hollywood Reporter

, a representative of the filmmaker indicated that Allen and his wife, Soon-Y Previni, were contacted a couple of months ago with "just a few days" to respond to the content of the film.

"Of course, they refused to do so," the source said.

With four episodes directed by Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick (Oscar nominees for "The Invisible War", 2012), "Allen v. Farrow" explores the never closed wound in the couple, with special attention to the

testimony of Dylan Farrow

, daughter adopted by the marriage that accused Allen of sexual abuse in 1992.

"As has been known for decades, these allegations are categorically false. Several agencies investigated them at the time and found that regardless of what Dylan Farrow was led to believe,

no abuse ever occurred

," the statement said.

"Unfortunately, it is not surprising that the network that broadcasts this is

HBO

, which has a production contract and a business relationship with Ronan Farrow. While this poor quality piece may attract attention, it does not change the facts," he concluded.

In addition, the filmmaker's team

has accused the documentary

of infringing copyrights for including a few minutes of the audiobook "Apropos of Nothing" (his biography) without asking permission.

This version contradicts that of the producer of the film, Amy Herdy, who in an interview with

Variety

stated that he tried to contact Allen in 2018 to interview him but never received a response.

HBO RECOVERES THE WOUND BETWEEN ALLEN AND THE FARROW

Woody Allen and Mia Farrow had a relationship for twelve years, which spanned the entire decade of the 80s, and they worked together on numerous films such as "Hannah and her Sisters" (1986).

Through

home videos

, "Allen v. Farrow" tries to recreate the life of the couple with their seven children and the subsequent breakup in 1992, when the filmmaker fell in love with his adopted daughter Soon-Yi in the middle of a fight for custody of the rest of the children and with the accusations of background abuse.

While the documentary series includes interviews close to the Farrow's environment, there are hardly any contrary testimonies such as that of his son Moses Farrow, who has been enormously critical of his mother and defends the filmmaker.
