A total of 12 people were newly confirmed to be infected, 7 in Sendai, 3 in Osaki, and 1 in Tagajo and 1 in Natori.
The cumulative total of infected people is 3575, including those who have already recovered.
Miyagi Prefecture also announced that a woman in her 90s who had been infected with the new coronavirus and was hospitalized at a medical institution in the prefecture died on the 22nd.
A total of 25 people died after being confirmed infected in Miyagi prefecture.
