After a violent dispute on the banks of the Maschsee in Hanover, a seriously injured 33-year-old was rescued by emergency operation.

The man is now out of danger, said a police spokesman on Tuesday.

The perpetrator or perpetrators have not yet been identified.

A stranger or possibly a group of attackers stabbed the 33-year-old on Monday evening.

Several parties are said to have been involved in the dispute.

The police evaluated clues, dogs were also on duty, and divers looked for clues in the Maschsee.

The dispute is said to have taken place on the east side of the Maschsee at about the level of the NDR state broadcasting house.

The victim came to the hospital.

Initially, there was no information about his identity and possible motives for the act.

The investigators had searched the bank and the adjacent water area for traces and possible weapons that evening.

They were trying to “condense” what witnesses told them, the spokesman said.

The police are also looking for more witnesses to the conflict.
