On February 23, Chengdu Customs notified: On February 20, a customs officer of Chengdu Shuangliu Airport affiliated to Chengdu Customs found 20 dried seahorses with a net weight of 190 grams in the luggage of an incoming passenger.

On the same day, when the customs officer supervised the Cairo-Chengdu flight, he noticed that the X-ray machine image of a passenger’s luggage was abnormal. After the layers "peel the cocoon", a tail of dried hippocampus appeared in front of the customs officer.

After checking and weighing on the spot, there were 20 dried seahorses in the luggage of the passenger, with a net weight of 190 grams.

At present, the customs at Chengdu Shuangliu Airport has temporarily refused to release the dried seahorses.

  It is understood that seahorses are listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and dried seahorses are precious animal products.
