A candidate for the telecrochet show "The Voice", Vincent Pois, was excluded from the program after Internet users unearthed racist tweets from him, the show's production company said on Monday.

On the set of "The Voice" on Saturday evening, the young 21-year-old amateur rapper convinced the jury with his performance, but on the social network Twitter, users immediately brought up past publications of the young man, known by the pseudo @ Vincent_TheVivi.

The racist jokes and homophobic remarks tweeted in 2017 by Vincent Pois shock Internet users who then question his participation in the show.

The writings of the candidates are "incompatible with our values ​​and with its participation in the program which ends today," said the production company in a statement.

"I see old tweets that stand out, that I wrote when I was 17," the young man admitted on Sunday on his Instagram account.

“I did not mean a word of what I wrote. I apologize to all the people I have offended with these shameful messages,” he said.

A similar controversy with Mennel, candidate in 2018

The episode recalls a similar controversy in 2018 with Mennel, candidate of "The Voice".

A few days after an appearance in season 7 of the show, the candidate's old Facebook posts are surfacing.

After the attacks in Nice and Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, she had notably accused the government of being "the real terrorists".

Other screenshots, notably relayed by the far right on social networks, also showed that she had shared publications by the controversial Islamologist Tariq Ramadan or Dieudonné on Facebook.

Despite a public apology, the singer had ended up announcing that she was leaving the TF1 telecrochet.
