Despite the difficulties and challenges that people of determination may face in the field of art, Asmaa Bakir and her cousin Abdullah Lotfi won their talent and devoted all their efforts to achieving professionalism, and we were able to work in the studios of Tashkeel Center in the historic Al Fahidi district in Dubai.

Asmaa carries many talents, she formulates her feelings in poems and written songs, and translates all her feelings through colors, while Abdullah tends to express through the cartoon characters that he presents in black and white.

The mentor, Gulshan Kafrana, works to provide support for Asma and Abdullah in their work, and spoke about her experience in mentoring with them, saying: “Asma and Abdullah studied art in (talents from beautiful people), and I have known people of determination with arts for years, since she was born in a family of people of determination, but After the center was closed due to the Corona pandemic, I followed up with Asmaa and Abdullah as an artistic guide, to guide them how to work on art when assigned to work, and I no longer teach them at all and do not interfere with the techniques that they choose to work on, but rather I help them with how to work and respond to emails when they receive any mail For the purpose of assigning artistic work.

conviction

Kafrana noted that what she seeks to find in each of them is a firm belief from within each person in the talent he possesses, considering that teaching guides a person, while artistic guidance teaches him to believe in his talent, and this is what helped them to devise a special style of drawing with time, so Abdullah developed from Cartoon drawings to Emirati characters, while Asmaa worked to develop her writing style, and achieved great success, especially in writing songs, including the song about people of determination, and she also began to learn how to craft jewelry.

Regarding the challenges of artistic guidance, Gulshan emphasized that mentoring requires a lot of kindness and patience, but what I worked on with Abdullah and Asma is to teach them confidence in their abilities to present any kind of art through persistence, work and perseverance, especially as they possess the talent that entitles each of them to distinction and creativity.

Shame barrier

Asma spoke to Emirates Today about her experience with art and writing, saying: “I started working in the field of arts since I was young. The beginning was with presenting drawings on paper, and then I started writing short stories, poetry and songs, and writing became part of my life. I went to (talents from beautiful people). It was difficult for me to communicate with people, because I was bullied, and this made me stop communicating, as I was ashamed to talk even when I entered the university, it was not easy.

She added, “After eight years, my father left and I did not speak with my family for days. I also cut off communication with my friends. Then I went to the center and Gulshan was the art school, and she helped me communicate. The main achievement I am proud of is that I spoke in front of 40,000 people at a public party. I broke the shame. ”

Asmaa worked on the arts and writing was an outlet for her, indicating that she writes a lot about her feelings and feelings, so she tries to express everything that irritates her feelings, and she has reached 32 years of age and finally learned to make jewelry, so that writing remains the area closest to her heart and personality, especially since she has become a speaker Inspiring and pushing people to progress.

As for bullying and the effect it left inside, she pointed out that it undoubtedly leaves an impact, but it subsided with time, sending a message to the bullies to stop doing this, because no person has the right to hurt another person alive, so wounding people physically and mentally is not acceptable. Absolutely.

Cartoons

Abdullah Lotfi, who is 27 years old, turned to art as his favorite work, explaining that he chose to work in black and white because it reminds him of cartoon books that bring back his childhood and his first beginning with drawing.

He pointed out that the guide helps him a lot in costly work, especially after he moved to Tashkeel, since he has become working in a distinctive way on the paintings he wants to present, especially since he sees that art is the best work he has ever done, as it has become a source of living and a way of life.

Abdullah avoids colors, as he sees that colors bring a lot of tension to him, especially as he seeks to focus on graphics instead of focusing on color distribution, noting that sometimes color enters the work because it is an assignment work or that it needs a little color.

As for the main challenges in the work, he noted that they lie in the division of work and placing the buildings and characters in the squares, and writing within the work is another challenge, so it is preferable to be in black and white.

Opening the horizon of dialogue

The artistic guide, Gulshan Kafrana, indicated that she not only works with artistic guidance with Asma and Abdullah, and does not provide advice related to artistic techniques only, but also works to open the horizon of dialogue with them by talking about their lives and all that they face, explaining that people are going through circumstances and difficulties and desire Speaking about it, here is the importance of guidance in opening the horizon of expression on all levels.

Gulshan stressed that she does not put her touches in the art that they present, because art does not bear errors at all, and what is presented in art must remain as it is.

The supervisor Kafrana teaches them to trust their abilities to present any kind of art through persistence, work, perseverance and challenging difficulties, the most dangerous of which is bullying.
