An alert procedure was triggered for this Sunday and Monday in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
Due to the meteorological conditions, namely southerly winds carrying dust from the Sahara, the concentrations of suspended particles (PM10) will indeed "sharply increase this Sunday", in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, but also in the Landes, notes Atmo Nouvelle-Aquitaine air quality control body.
The alert threshold (80 µg / m3 daily average) will be exceeded for these two departments this Sunday.
On Monday, the arrival of a disturbance is expected to lower the levels of airborne particles.
However, they will remain high in the Pyrénées Atlantiques.
