Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Federation of Publishers, called on publishers in the Republic of Ivory Coast to redesign their business models to adapt and respond to the changes that the world is witnessing as a result of the (Corona) pandemic, and said: “Despite the difficult conditions African publishers are going through, only "There are opportunities for big ideas and ambitious visions to design new business models and strategies with a focus on local and global markets."

This came during the visit of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi to the city of Abidjan, during which she met with a number of members of the "Association of Publishers in Ivory Coast" to discuss the existing challenges and ways to enable publishers to adapt to the new changes and circumstances in the publishing industry. She emphasized that "sustainable solutions to the challenges facing the sector Publishing, teaching and ensuring readers ’access to books on the African continent require redoubling efforts and promoting innovation at the national level.

Al Qasimi was briefed on the repercussions of the Corona crisis that affected the local publishing sector, as members of the Publishers Association reviewed the damage to the level of book sales caused by strict precautionary measures and preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, including closing schools and canceling book fairs and cultural events.

Al-Qasimi met with Albert Nsingyumfa, Executive Secretary of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa, to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the Federation and the Association with the aim of enhancing the quality of education on the African continent.

The President of the International Publishers Association reviewed the Federation's vision for the year 2021 and its objectives to develop effective and research-based strategies that contribute to enhancing the flexibility of the publishing sector and its ability to keep pace with future changes, by building business systems with strong foundations that enable publishers to play their main role in the education and social development sector. Candia Camara, Minister of National Education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, received the President of the International Publishers Association, where they discussed the reality of the academic publishing sector in Ivory Coast, and the need for publishers working in this field to focus on developing digital educational programs to improve opportunities for growth and success.

This is the third visit of the President of the International Publishers Association, after visiting Egypt and Kenya. During each visit, she met with representatives of the local publishers' associations, who are members of the International Publishers Association.
