More than 22,000 new infections with the coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours, while the number of people hospitalized has slightly decreased, according to figures released this Saturday by Public Health France.

Since Friday, 22,371 new cases have been detected, against 24,116 the day before and 21,231 last Saturday, said the health agency.

The test positivity rate (percentage of people tested positive out of all those tested) increased slightly, to 6.1%.

The vaccination campaign continues

In the past seven days, 9,395 people positive for the coronavirus have been admitted to hospital, including 1,770 in intensive care units.

The Covid-19 has killed 183 in hospital in twenty-four hours in France, bringing the number of deaths since the start of the epidemic to 84,147.

At the same time, vaccination continues to progress, with 2,540,702 people having received at least one dose of vaccine, according to figures from Public Health France stopped on Saturday.
