At the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station in Niigata Prefecture, TEPCO announced last month that workers had accidentally damaged equipment related to nuclear material protection.

At the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant, there are a series of management problems such as unauthorized entry into the central control room and mistakes in safety measures.

According to TEPCO, on the 27th of last month, a worker working inside the power plant accidentally damaged the equipment related to nuclear material protection related to the detection of intruders.

The details of the equipment cannot be clarified at this stage from the viewpoint of anti-terrorism measures.

TEPCO said that there was no safety problem and had already reported the details of the damage to the Nuclear Regulation Authority.

Regarding the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station, a problem was revealed last month that an employee was illegally entering the central control room using another employee's ID card without permission, and it was once announced that safety measures had been completed. Nonetheless, after that, a leak was found in the construction of the fire extinguishing equipment, and problems such as withdrawing the announcement of the completion of construction have continued.

TEPCO says, "In the future, I would like to take appropriate measures under the guidance of the regulatory agency and explain the situation to the extent that I can inform you."
