In total, the virus has killed 83,964 people in France since the start of the epidemic, including 59,484 in hospitals.

A total of 24,116 new cases have been detected, compared to 22,501 Thursday, the health agency said.

The test positivity rate (percentage of people tested positive out of all the people tested) is stable at 6%.

Strong hospital pressure

However, hospital pressure does not fall: 309 new admissions in intensive care (against 262 the day before) for a total of 3,380 patients currently treated in this type of service (3,384 in the city).

Covid patients occupy a total of 25,506 hospital beds across all departments (25,717 Thursday) with 1,543 new hospitalizations on Friday (against 1,490 Thursday).

Over the last seven days, hospitals recorded 9,435 new hospitalizations in total and intensive care units 1,764 (against 9,314 hospitalizations and 1,725 ​​entries in shifts over the seven days ended Wednesday).

Vaccination continues to progress.

According to the Directorate General of Health, 1,132,918 people have now been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 since the start of the campaign launched at the end of December and 2,535,436 people have received at least one dose of vaccine, i.e. 3.8% of the total population and 4.8% of the adult population.
