The case of the letter bomb attack on an administrative building of the Lidl discounter in Neckarsulm on Wednesday is obviously expanding.

The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Baden-Württemberg, which claims to have taken over the investigation, announced on Thursday that another explosive mail had been intercepted and defused.

This was addressed to a food company based in Bavaria.

The investigation, which is being carried out by the LKA together with the Heidelberg public prosecutor, is said to also involve an explosion at a company in Eppelheim, Baden-Württemberg.

The shipment in Bavaria was discovered on Thursday night in a parcel distribution center at Munich Airport.

According to the State Criminal Police Office, a special commission made up of members of the LKA and the Heilbronn, Mannheim and Ulm police headquarters with more than a hundred officers was set up.

A connection between the acts is assumed.

Specialists are currently checking all traces at the crime scenes as well as on the defused broadcast.

The motives for the acts are therefore still unclear.

Three people were injured in the detonation in the Lidl building on Wednesday.

According to the police, they have now been able to leave the hospital.

In the afternoon, when a letter was opened, the explosion occurred, Lidl said.

"We are deeply dismayed by the incident and wish our employees a good and speedy recovery," it said.

Nothing is yet known about one or more possible perpetrators and the motive.

From security circles it was said in the afternoon that it was unclear whether it was a letter or a parcel bomb.

According to the police, property damage cannot yet be quantified.

"I think it is very early to say something about it," said the Mayor of Neckarsulm, Steffen Hertwig, WELT.

“It was a shock and shock situation for everyone who was there.

We don't know anything like that here. "

The Lidl administration building is located in an industrial area.

According to local media, the area around the building was cordoned off and the building was evacuated.

There was only an explosion on Tuesday - in this case too, the bomb is said to have reached the beverage manufacturer in Eppelheim, which is known for the “Capri Sun” brand, among other things, by post.

An employee was injured during the exploration.

He suffered a bang trauma.

There was no property damage.

Eppelheim is about 60 kilometers away from Neckarsulm.

In this case, too, a package should have been responsible.

However, it is not yet known whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
