Almost 380 million euros have been invested to ensure the modernization and performance of the network.

Outside Ile-de-France, the region is the one that invested the most in the national territory last year.

“The investment forecasts for 2021 will be lower but still around 230 million euros.

"The opportunity to take stock of the four biggest projects in the region for the coming months.

The railway bypass of the Donges refinery

“This is the biggest project at a cost of 150 million euros,” said Christophe Huau.

As a reminder, the Nantes-Le Croisic railway line crosses an industrial site of 350 hectares including a refinery (Total), a site for filling liquefied petroleum gas (Antargaz) and fuel storage.

Sixty trains run on this axis every day.

The purpose of the operation is to move the railway line away from the refinery.

“There is necessarily a safety objective, but also an objective of economic development of the refinery and also at the same time of the department.

The end of the work is scheduled for October 2022.

Nantes-Bordeaux modernization with the La Roche-sur-Yon-La Rochelle section

The Nantes-Bordeaux line, via La Rochelle, used by one million travelers per year, provides a link between the two regional capitals and promotes service around these three agglomerations and the opening up of the territories, especially the south Vendée.

On the section between La Roche-sur-Yon and La Rochelle, a first phase of modernization on one track is carried out from January 2020 to July 2021 with complete line closure.

"The reopening of the line is scheduled for July 31," promises Christophe Huau.

Amount of work for this first phase: 152 million euros.

Modernization of the Clisson-Cholet line

To the tune of nearly 50 million euros, the main works were carried out in line closure from July 2018 to April 2019. The signaling work continues on line operated until the end of next March.

In the end, 30 km of tracks will be renewed, stops in Cugand, Boussay and Torfou will be made accessible and the speed up to 130 km / h in certain sectors put in place.

On this section, the Pays-de-la-Loire region has undertaken to increase service from four to eight daily round trips.

The transfer of rail installations from Nantes-Etat to Nantes-Blottereau

The operation, the cost of which is estimated at 110.8 million euros (70% supported by Nantes Métropole), consists in freeing up the 15.8 hectares of the Nantes-Etat rail site on the island of Nantes, to allow the development of the future ZAC southwest, urban project of Nantes metropolis.

Objective: to improve the urban environment, by strengthening urban continuity with the Ile de Nantes thanks to the removal of the barrier formed today by railway equipment.

All activities will be transferred to various sites, including a significant portion to the Nantes-Blottereau site, which is being redeveloped in order to make it more efficient, in particular thanks to the construction of a new computerized signaling station.

This transfer operation is due to be completed in December 2022.
