In an explosion in a Lidl administration building in Neckarsulm (Baden-Württemberg), three people were injured on Wednesday.

In the afternoon, the explosion occurred when a letter was opened, the company said on request.

"We are deeply dismayed by the incident and wish our employees a good and speedy recovery," it said.

The three injured were immediately given medical attention.

The police spoke of a larger incident.

As reported by the "Heilbronn Voice", the incident should have occurred at 2:50 pm.

Rescue workers were on site, and a rescue helicopter was also in action, said a police spokesman for the AFP news agency.

The Lidl administration building is located in an industrial area.

According to information from security circles, it was previously said that it was unclear whether it was a letter or a parcel bomb.

Only on Tuesday there was an explosion at a beverage manufacturer in Eppelheim.

An employee was injured.

He suffered a bang trauma.

There was no property damage.

Eppelheim is about 60 kilometers away from Neckarsulm.

In this case, too, a package should have been responsible.

However, it is not yet known whether there is a connection between the two incidents.
