Pablo Casado's decision to leave the emblematic headquarters of the PP in Madrid's Genova street has to be interpreted as

a maneuver to symbolic break with the party's corruption cases.

Gestures matter in politics -and more in the media politics of our time- insofar as they are part of the message, and it is evident that the current leadership of the PP wants to be recognized for its renovation effort: today it does not maintain any link with open cases in the t

courts p

hear the corruption perpetrated in previous stages.

From that point of view,

Married has the right to claim distance

with the management of Bárcenas and with a headquarters investigated for having been reformed with black money.

However, the decision is not without its undesirable misunderstandings.

To begin with, the moment chosen to announce it seems to obey the purpose of silencing the necessary debate about the mistakes made and the terrible result obtained on 14-F.

A false crisis cannot be closed because that means giving up the diagnosis

that will allow the rehabilitation of a winning strategy in future sets.

The head of the opposition and alternative to Sánchez cannot afford more lurching or more uncertainty, which is the true cause of his electoral inefficiency and not the memory of Gürtel.

The popular leadership is deceived if it does not realize that the problem is with the message, not with the messenger.

Newspapers are here to tell the truth and report abuse;

politicians, to take responsibility and be faithful to their promises.

Let no one be confused.

Otherwise,

Giving up Genoa is not only cutting with the worst of the past but also with the best.

Electoral victories were celebrated on that balcony that opened periods of historical reforms, very positive transformations for this country.

Aznarism and Marianism made mistakes, some very serious, but they also rendered incalculable services to Spain.

Marriage, on the other hand, has yet to release its baggage.

Leading the re-founding of a center-right would undoubtedly be his great work: it has to become his main objective from now on.

For the rest, it should be remembered that the PSOE did not resign from Ferraz, having to its credit the worst scandals of democracy, from the crimes of the GAL to Filesa through the Andalusian ERE.

His renewal was limited to the change of leadership after passing through the opposition, without more.

But nobody is hiding the double media standard that punishes more the corruption of the PP.

CiU did choose that path following the 3%, and it cannot be said that it has done very well.

It is not enough to change headquarters: the PP needs to change from within,

get out of the bunker of a few stalwarts to listen to society, open the party to the talent that the PP always had -especially in economic matters- and not cancel it (Álvarez de Toledo's case), build a clear project and offer a solvent alternative by expanding grassroots and leading the liberal constitutionalism that Sánchez and Iglesias are undermining.
