Some departments feel aggrieved by the distribution of doses of Covid-19 vaccines, which they consider unfair.

But if differences are indeed noted, it is above all the supply circuits that created these disparities.

DECRYPTION

More than three million French people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and 640,000 have already received both doses.

Vaccination seems to have finally picked up a good pace in the country but some areas are however more damaged than others.

The Jura, for example, is one of the best endowed departments, while the neighboring Saône-et-Loire is sorely lacking in doses and it is very difficult to find an appointment for an injection.

Strong disparities

According to the Ministry of Health, two criteria are taken into account to distribute the doses from one department to another: the number of inhabitants over 75, as well as the number of health professionals over 50 or with co-morbidities.

However, when we cross these data with the deliveries of doses already received, we indeed see strong disparities between the territories.

The Jura, precisely, received 106 doses per 100 inhabitants, while Saône-et-Loire, a neighboring department, received 50 per 100 inhabitants.

Differences that even push some residents to travel miles to get vaccinated in better endowed regions.

The fault of the supply circuits

However, we must not confuse territorial distribution and territorial mesh.

According to information obtained by Europe 1, it is in fact the supply circuits that created these disparities.

The vaccine delivery circuits are in fact managed by the regions and not by the departments.

For example in the case of Jura and Saône-et-Loire, the CHU, which currently receives the doses of Moderna serum in Burgundy / Franche-Comté and which redistributes them, is located ... in the Jura.

It is therefore easier to send doses to this department rather than to another.

The prefects and local authorities should therefore correct the situation very quickly, assured the Ministry of Health.
