  • The gendarmes searched this Tuesday morning the premises of the regional management of Lidl in Ploumagoar near Guingamp.

  • Several people from the management team were reportedly taken into custody.

  • This follows the filing of several employee complaints for acts of harassment and union discrimination.

About twenty gendarmes raided the premises of the regional management of the Lidl group in Ploumagoar near Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor) on Tuesday morning, we learned from union sources.

According to these same sources, several people from the management team were taken into custody.

Contacted, the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor's office has not yet responded to our requests.

According to our information, the action taken by the gendarmes followed the filing of several complaints for acts of harassment and union discrimination.

"The file is major", assures a representative of the CFE-CGC.

Several employees and former employees of the distribution company have complained about working conditions within the regional management of the group where the social climate is described as "deleterious" by several unions.

"We are facing an authoritarian management with toxic management and without pity for the employees", underlines Arnaud Rouxel, CGT union representative.

Employees in depression or burnout

The unionist claims to have sounded the alarm bells several times with other colleagues to denounce the malaise of certain employees, in depression or in a situation of burnout, before alerting the judicial authorities in the course of the summer.

In May 2018, a strike movement had already impacted the Ploumagoar logistics platform, leading to the closure of several Lidl stores in Brittany.

The unions were already denouncing the working conditions within the group and the exhaustion of the teams at the time.

Some union officials have also lodged a complaint for union discrimination.

They criticize the management for having changed the organization of its social and economic committee and for ignoring their questions during meetings.

“It's as if they wanted to get rid of us,” says Arnaud Rouxel.

Contacted, Lidl's management has not responded to our requests for the moment.
