The Minister of Culture refuses to take up the “Dominique Boutonnat” file.

Roselyne Bachelot does not want to sanction the boss of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image (CNC) indicted for sexual assault, in the name of the presumption of innocence.

She further believes that it is for him to decide whether or not to give up his post.

“In the name of what would I pronounce a sanction against Dominique Boutonnat?

It is up to him to see if he can exercise his mandate with confidence, he will judge and he will decide.

It is not for me to sanction someone who is deemed innocent, ”the minister said on LCI Monday evening.

"The word of the victims is respected"

"I want two things: to respect the word of the victim and the presumption of innocence", she again said.

“The word of the victims is respected because we are in legal proceedings.

The judgment is not rendered and the presumption of innocence of Dominique Boutonnat must be respected ”.

For Roselyne Bachelot, "the court of public opinion cannot replace the judicial court".

Shortly after the indictment for sexual assault and attempted rape of Dominique Boutonnat, unions of producers, directors and the CGT-Spectacle requested last week the sidelining of the boss of the CNC and the appointment of a new presidency.

Dominique Boutonnat formally disputes the accusations of his 22-year-old godson, son of a long-time friend, for facts that the complainant dates from August 2020. The film producer, 51, has been president of the CNC since July 2019.
