The city of Schweinfurt in Bavaria has the lowest seven-day incidence in Germany.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), it is currently 5.6.

On Saturday, the seven-day incidence - the number of cases per 100,000 population in seven days - fell below ten for the first time.

In November the incidence had been over 200.

Schweinfurt's Lord Mayor Sebastian Remelé (CSU) justified the low incidence in an interview with the “Tagesspiegel” on Tuesday with the city's age structure.

“Many people in Schweinfurt live in nursing homes or old people's homes.

If there are high numbers there, the statistics naturally spoil you.

It was like that a few months ago, ”he explained.

"Now the homes are vaccinated and the numbers are correspondingly low."

Only a small part of the Astrazeneca vaccination doses delivered was inoculated

The first deliveries of the vaccine from Astrazeneca were fiercely contested between the EU and the British-Swedish manufacturer, but the preparation is apparently on heap in the federal states.

Nationwide, of 736,800 vaccination doses delivered so far, only 64,869 doses were vaccinated according to the RKI on Tuesday.

There is no reason to be thrifty, however, because replenishment can be expected on Thursday.

According to the Federal Ministry of Health, Astrazeneca will then deliver another 736,800 vaccine doses, and on February 27 a further one million vaccine doses.
