Students, education staff and agents isolated in high schools in Colmar and Mulhouse, a school group completely closed in Rixheim ... Each time after the detection of the South African variant of Covid-19.

As everywhere in France, mutations of the virus are circulating in Alsace.

At what level ?

According to the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of the Grand-Est, these variants represented nearly 22% of cases in the region as of February 12.

In figures, 868 people are suspected of having been affected, out of a total of 3,978.

Bas-Rhin is more affected with 619 cases of English variant for 39 South African or Brazilian, out of 2,524 screening tests.

In the Haut-Rhin, 127 and 83 suspicions were identified respectively, out of 1,454 samples.

That is, roughly speaking, data that falls within the national average.

Thursday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran had explained that 20 to 25% of infections were due to these famous mutations.

By way of comparison, Moselle, which is currently particularly affected by the virus, sees the variants being responsible for almost one in two contamination (48%, 1,149 out of 2,397 screening tests).

Today, the incidence rate is the highest in mainland France, with 290 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Certainly far from Mayotte (867), but well above the national average (196).

In Alsace, it has continued to drop, albeit slowly, since mid-January, both in Bas-Rhin (171) and Haut-Rhin (155).
