When we talk about
Christine Salem
, we first think of her voice.
A warm and powerful voice whose intensity rises a capella.
And then, there are his words which resonate with suffering but not resignation, which proclaim revolt but not revenge, which elevate peace and spirituality.
There are the percussions inherited from the slaves of Reunion Island, which unite with the riffs of a guitar, the sobs of a violin or the whistles of a harmonica, the time of 13 mixed pieces in which the maloya is tinged with blues, rock, country or sega.
And then on the cover of her new album, there is her gaze, both soft and determined, her hairstyle à la Angela Davis and her blue or rather blues lips.
"Mersi", the 7th album by Reunionese singer Christine Salem has just been released.
