SNCF traffic is interrupted between Paris and La Rochelle due to an episode of freezing rains hitting several departments in the West and should not resume before midday on Saturday.

“A good ten trains in both directions have been removed” since Friday morning on the Paris-La Rochelle axis, which “cannot open since in Poitiers, the frost imprisons a catenary”, preventing the current from capturing, an SNCF spokesperson told AFP.

There will be "no resumption of traffic on the Paris-La Rochelle axis before midday tomorrow", he added.

Delays on the Paris-Bordeaux line

"The meteorological phenomenon has ended, but the ice is still present and does not melt since the temperatures are still at zero level or below," said the spokesperson for the SNCF.

In addition, "we had delays during the day at Saint-Pierre-des-Corps", but the situation normalized around 1 pm, he noted.

At the beginning of the morning, the SNCF had also announced a delay on "2-3" TGV Paris-Bordeaux following a temporary suspension of traffic in order to verify that there was no danger.

On the Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse line, two trains were “affected by frost” and detained in Vierzon and Limoges for 90 minutes.
