Jamie Spears may now instead share the guardianship with the asset management company Bessemer Trust, which was hired in November.

Britney Spears has been declared a minor since 2008. After a period of mental illness, her father has been responsible for her finances and career.

In the past year, several negotiations regarding guardianship have been held.

In early February, the court rejected Britney's attempt to revoke the father's guardianship.

Not published his dissatisfaction

Britney herself has never publicly expressed her opposition to her father's guardianship.

Neither on social media nor in court.

Last year, however, her lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III claimed that the pop singer "strongly opposed" her father's control over her career and that she refused to perform unless it was changed.

The documentary that attracted attention

The court's decision on Britney Spears' guardianship comes a few weeks after the New York Times-produced documentary "Framing Britney Spears" premiered.

The documentary has received a lot of attention and says it examines what really happened to the pop icon when she disappeared from the limelight.

The documentary also depicts how the conspiracy theory and internet movement #Free-Britney, which consists of fans, is convinced that the pop star is controlled against his will and communicates with them through secret messages.

New negotiations will be held on March 17 and April 27, Variety reports.
