Study reveals falsehood of voice and manner of speech

Researchers at Sorbonne University found that the lying person can be inferred from the voice, as the false speech is slower and less focused on the middle of the word, which the brain can automatically detect.

It is expected that this discovery will be used in the future to develop "optical instruments" that the police can use to determine if the criminal is lying.

The study authors indicated that speaking faster and putting more intensity in the middle of the word enhances people's credibility, according to Russian media.

These subtle changes in the way we speak are recorded "automatically" by the brain, and occur in a number of languages including English, French and Spanish.

Although it is a vital part of human society, researchers do not know exactly what sensory input humans use to determine the reliability of others.
