In the
Czech Republic
, the number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (seven-day incidence) exceeded the 1000 mark in three districts.
Districts correspond roughly to German administrative districts.

The government seals off the districts from the outside world.
Those who live there are no longer allowed to leave the respective district, said Health Minister Jan Blatny in Prague on Thursday.
Outside people would not be allowed in.
The seven-day incidence in these regions is three to four times higher than in other districts - nationwide it is
more than 450

In view of the drastic incidences in the neighboring districts, Saxony wants to significantly restrict commuter traffic to the Czech Republic.
The sealing off of certain hotspots is urgently required, said Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) on Thursday in Dresden.
He sees the British mutation on the rise there.
Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) called for the Czech Republic and Tyrol to be declared mutation areas.
This has the advantage that entry into Germany is only possible with a negative corona test, said Söder after a meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich.
"This can significantly improve our security."
