The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours has not declined, as has the number of deaths and admissions to intensive care units, according to data from Public Health France published on Thursday.

More than 21,000 new cases have been diagnosed.

If the hospitals welcome this Thursday fewer patients suffering from Covid-19 - or 26,963 against 27,417 the day before - the number of admissions in 24 hours is still increasing, with 1,618 patients having been admitted in the last 24 hours against 1,525 the previous day.

The number of patients admitted to intensive care units, therefore the most serious cases, has also increased slightly, from 3,309 patients to 3,327, including 269 in the last 24 hours alone.

A week earlier, the emergency services counted 3,240 patients with Covid-19.

A declining positivity rate

During previous waves of contamination, the number of patients in sheaves had reached 7,000 in the spring and 4,900 in the fall.

Within a day, 371 people died from the disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 80,803 since the start of the epidemic.

Over the last seven days, there are 10,396 new hospitalizations, including 1,756 admissions to intensive care.

These numbers smooth out the effects of daily peaks and troughs.

They have been relatively stable for two weeks, even if the health authorities fear an influx of patients because of the new variants of the virus.

The number of cases tested positive rose to 21,063 against 25,387 new cases the day before, while the positivity rate (positive people compared to all those tested) showed a very slight decline of 0.1 point to 6.2%.

Vaccination coverage continues slowly with 2,060,675 people having received at least one dose on Wednesday, the figures being published with a delay of one day.
