At 37, Yaya Touré began the new career to which he aspired, after his fabulous years as a footballer.

The Ivorian will become a coach and more specifically an assistant coach in Ukraine, a country he knows well since he played there during the 2004-2005 season.

“

I started my professional career in Donetsk

, recalls the ex-midfielder, on the Olimpik site.

Now I am here to begin my coaching journey.

Of course, I understand that Olimpik is not Metallurg, but I remember well how friendly and open people were in Donetsk

 ”.

The Olimpik is in fact the third club in this city located in the east of Ukraine, behind the renowned Chakhtior and Metallurg.

The team is currently 7th in the local championship (Premier League).

His main achievement is being a 2nd division champion in 2014. “

To be honest, even my agent was surprised when he found out that I wanted to study to be a coach in Ukraine, but I was firm in my decision

, explained Yaya Touré.

It is not so easy to find a place where you can quietly, without unnecessary pressure, study, where you will be accepted as a friend

 ”.

The Olimpik does not specify the exact duration of Yaya Touré's contract but indicates that

he

"will

work as Igor Klimovsky's assistant until the summer of 2021

 ".

Like Kolo Touré, his big brother

By settling on a sideline, the former resident of AS Monaco (France), FC Barcelona (Spain) and Manchester City (England), imitates his big brother, Habib Kolo Touré, who works currently on the side of Leicester City (England).

At Olimpik, Yaya Touré will notably coach Frenchman Issiar Dramé, Belgian Ibrahim Kargbo, Cameroonian Taddeus Nkeng and Nigerian “Benito”.
