  • The incidence rate of Covid-19 in Toulouse is 305 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, much higher than the national average.

  • The CHU is in a tense situation and begins to deprogram certain activities.

  • The prefecture announces that new appointment slots for the vaccination of the priority public must open this Thursday.

The Covid-19 circulation figures in the Pink City and Haute-Garonne, even if they have tended to drop slightly over the past week, remain very high compared to the rest of the Occitanie region and to the national average.

According to the regional health agency, the incidence rate is 305.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Toulouse, 273 for the metropolis and 252 for the department against 203 in Occitania and 206 in France.

"The incidence has started to stabilize but concerns persist about the rise in power of the variants, with the fear that it will quickly contradict this development", explains Pierre Ricordeau, the general delegate of the ARS.

Muriel Alvarez, infectious disease specialist at the CHU, indicates that there are cases of the British variant (V1) among hospitalized patients "without this having any effect on the way in which they are taken care of, nor on the treatments, nor on their gravity ”.

In addition, two cases of the South African variant (V2) were also detected in Haute-Garonne, "in two travelers", without requiring hospitalization.

Return of deprogramming to the CHU

With 800 new hospitalizations per week in Occitanie and more than 150 intensive care admissions, the impact of the epidemic on the healthcare system is growing stronger.

In particular in Haute-Garonne, which according to Pierre Ricordeau concentrates “a quarter of new hospitalizations and a third of new resuscitations”.

Since the beginning of the week, the Toulouse University Hospital is therefore officially at stage 4, the strongest level of mobilization, "which very concretely leads to the deprogramming of activities".

This postponement rate for non-urgent interventions is currently 20% at the CHU.

New vaccination slots from this Thursday

In accordance with national guidelines, Haute-Garonne secures its doses, including for the second injection of the Pfizer vaccine.

"There is no appointment if there is no dose," insists the prefect Etienne Guyot who also calls on priority people not to make several appointments in different centers.

So, should you insist on 0 809 54 19 19 or frantically connect to the www.keldoc.com platform?

The answer is yes.

: "As of this Thursday, new meeting slots for priority audiences will be open", announces the prefecture "About 20,000 new first injection appointments should be able to be opened until the end of March", adds the 'ARS.

Not to mention the 6,000 slots reserved for healthcare professionals under 65, thanks to the arrival of AstraZeneca doses.

Finally, apart from four nursing homes in a cluster situation, all the residents of retirement homes in Haute-Garonne who so wished, i.e. some 10,000 people, were able to start being vaccinated.
