According to a media report, Germany will impose entry bans and border controls to the Czech Republic and Tyrol from Sunday.

This was learned from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, report "Bild" and "Spiegel" in unison.

The authorities want to prevent the virus and mutations from coming to Germany via commuters, travelers or craftsmen.

A statement from the Ministry of the Interior was initially not available.

In Czech Republic

the number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (seven-day incidence) exceeded the 1000 new infections mark in three districts.

Districts there roughly correspond to German administrative districts.

Affected are Cheb (Eger) and Solokov (Falkenau), which are on the border with Bavaria and Saxony, and Trutnov (Trautenau), which borders on Poland.

The government seals off the districts from the outside world.

Those who live there are no longer allowed to leave the respective district, said Health Minister Jan Blatny in Prague on Thursday.

Outside people would not be allowed in.
