After a year unlike any other, marked by months of theaters being closed due to a pandemic, the 2021 Caesar ceremony is scheduled for March 13.

"It didn't occur to me for a second to cancel this evening," said the mistress of ceremony, Marina Foïs, on Thursday.

The 2021 Caesar ceremony will take place in just one month.

After a year unlike any other, marked by months of cinemas closed due to a pandemic, the voting members of the Academy had to choose from among 125 eligible films, which nevertheless managed to come out.

Planned despite health measures, the evening will take place on March 13 under the aegis of actress Marina Foïs.

"The white year, I understand it for intermittents. I do not understand it for the Caesar ceremony," she said Thursday, determined to play her role as mistress of ceremony.

"It didn't occur to me for a second to cancel"

"What sense would it have to disappear in this year, when we are prevented from existing? It didn't occur to me for a second to cancel this ceremony. We cinema people have a window to exist , that many other people and many other arts do not have. What would it mean not to be there? ", continued the actress.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Thursday February 11

This ceremony is the first since the deep crisis that shook the Academy of Caesar last year.

Accused of opacity and of itself, the institution has been profoundly renewed, under the aegis of a whole new management, entrusted to Véronique Cayla.

Another hot topic in the world of French cinema: the indictment on Thursday for sexual assault and attempted rape of Dominique Boutonnat, president of the National Cinema Center (CNC).

"We do not organize a party to poke around"

"This evening will be an opportunity to say a lot of things on a lot of different subjects. I will not organize a political rally, it is not my job. On the other hand, there are people who will take the stage and who will certainly have plenty to say, "said Marina Foïs.

The mistress of ceremony expects many speeches on the situation of intermittent entertainment, hit hard by the crisis.

"I find it interesting to listen to the multiplicity of points of view on this crisis. We do not organize a party to chomp but we are one of those who have one knee to the ground. So what? When we have one knee to earth we buckle? And we are not allowed to laugh? "
