Dominique Boutonnat, the president of the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image (CNC) was taken into custody on Wednesday following a complaint for sexual assault and attempted rape.

The Collective 50/50, which militates for parity in the cinema and the audio-visual one, asks its “withdrawal (…) the time that justice can say the right”, in a press release published on Twitter.

The collective was at the origin of the establishment, by the CNC, of ​​training against sexual harassment in the film industry.

He recalls, in a press release, “the importance of respecting (…) the presumption of innocence and the presumption of truthfulness and sincerity of the alleged victims”.

For "the pursuit of joint work"

While noting "the private framework of this custody", the Collective 50/50 demands that Dominique Boutonnat distance himself from his functions in order to allow "the continuation of his joint work with the CNC".

The appointment of Dominique Boutonnat at the head of the CNC in the summer of 2019, had raised concerns in the world of cinema which feared to be imposed a logic based on profitability.

In a report on the financing of French cinema, he pleaded for the development of the share of private financing in cinema, in addition to existing public support.
