A violent 7.5 magnitude earthquake shook the region of the Loyalty Islands and New Caledonia in the Pacific on Wednesday, announced the American Institute of Geophysics (USGS).
The earthquake triggered a tsunami alert, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the southeast of the Loyalty Islands archipelago, according to the USGS.
