Left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch has sharply criticized the results of the federal-state switch.

"Today's resolutions show that Angela Merkel has mentally walled herself in in lockdown," Bartsch told the newspapers of the Funke media group.

Instead of offering people a “clear perspective” after weeks in lockdown, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU) stood motionless on the brakes, said the left-wing politician.

Bartsch warned that the next few weeks would be the last nail in the coffin for many companies.

"This is particularly due to Peter Altmaier, whose failures will cost more jobs."

The federal and state governments have agreed to extend the corona lockdown until March 7th.

Hairdressers should be allowed to reopen from March 1, subject to conditions, and the states should decide on their own whether to open schools and daycare centers.
