By the 9th, the number of people who declined volunteers recruited by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government had increased by more than 40 to at least 97, following the remarks of Chairman Mori of the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In response to Mr. Mori's remarks, the host city of Tokyo has received a series of calls and e-mails for protests, as well as a series of reports saying that it will decline "city volunteers" who will guide the audience on transportation and sightseeing.



According to the city, there were 243 new protest and opinion calls and emails from 5 pm on the 8th to 5 pm on the 9th, bringing the total to 1405.
