The Department of Culture in Sharjah revealed the names of the winners of the 24th session of the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity (first edition) in its six literary fields, and their number reached 18 winners and winners from various Arab countries.

The total number of participants in its last session in poetry, novel, short story, theater, child literature and criticism, totaled 506 participants from all Arab countries and some foreign countries (Arabic speakers and residents of those countries).

The head of the department, Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Owais, said: “During the previous sessions, the award’s activities were organized in more than one Arab country, and the transfer of its organization to Arab countries witnessed remarkable turnout, which contributed to the expansion and spread of participation, and given the health conditions that the world has lived through since 2020, it is impossible to move Organizing this session outside the country, and the department will discuss the appropriate option to organize it.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Award, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department, Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qusayr, said, “The award is preparing to enter its 25th year, with a brilliance and generosity that has not changed throughout its previous sessions, as it has managed over a quarter of a century to maintain its uniqueness in this cultural field. Regarding the arbitration committees, Muhammad Al-Qusayr affirmed that the department entrusted arbitration committees that spared no effort in checking and reviewing all texts that deserved victory, according to evaluation criteria and a methodology for selecting winners.

The winners in the field of poetry are: the first: Muhammad Hasan Salih al-Samarrai (Iraq), for his group “Three Sides of the Sahara,” the second for Ali Hassan Mai al-Nurani (Palestine), for “Nahar al-Ghazala”, and the third: Ahmad Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab Saeed (Egypt), from "Green spells life."

In the short story, the first three places were shared: Raafat Hikmat Badr al-Din (Syria), on "As if I Was Dreaming", Muhammad Ibrahim Abul-Fotouh Al-Qalini (Egypt), on "Stabs in Music", and Aisha Saud Hasan Mukhtar (Saudi Arabia), on " The wind does not exclude anyone. ”

As for the winners of the novel, they are in order: Ribal Muhammad Saber (Iraq), for his novel “Al-Qabban,” Hind Hasan Diwan (Iraq) for her novel “The Walkers in Shadows”, and Husam Bin Hammouda (Tunisia) for his novel “Ras Al-Mallah”.

Najm El Din Haj Bakri (Syria) came first in the theater field, for his play “Looking for It,” and Sayed Mohamed Abdel Razek Abdel Aal (Egypt) won second place for his play “The Transit”, and the third place went to Amna Hazmoun (Algeria) for her play "Shades for one season."

In the field of child literature, Nora Mohamed Abboud (Egypt) won the first places for her group “The Well-Known Treasure”, and Mr. Mahmoud Zugiziq (Egypt) won the first place for her group “The Caramel Shop”, and Ayat Muhammad Hariri (Syria) for her group “In Waiting for a rainbow ».

As for the winners in the field of criticism, they are: Mahmoud Salim Ali Selim (Egypt), for his study of “The Transformations of the Poetic Text from Heritage to Postmodernism in Perspective and Application”, and Rasha Muhammad Al-Saeed Atta (Egypt), for her study “The Arab Poet’s Achievement Site of the Changes of the Poem In the past and present, Al-Baraa Khaled Mahmoud Hilal (Syria), for his study of “the impact of Levantine literature on the transformations of Arabic poetry from the Abbasid era to the modern era.”

Enriching mobility

The Secretary-General of the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qusayr, said, “Since its founding session in 1997, the award has been a platform for launching generations of young Arab writers, and has been able to reveal creative names in poetry and novel. He added, “In its current session, the award continues what it started more than two decades ago. During those years it presented more than 400 winners and winners, out of thousands of entries over the previous sessions, and provided the Arab Library with more than 400 titles in these creative aesthetic fields, which contributed to Enriching the cultural movement in the Arab world ».

Department of Culture: Due to circumstances, it is impossible to move the current session outside the country.
