The National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan will accept free telephone consultations on vaccinations from the 15th of this month in order to prevent the damage caused by frauds piggybacking on the vaccination of the new coronavirus.

This was revealed by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Inoue at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting on the 9th.

According to the Consumer Affairs Agency, suspicious telephone and e-mail consultations related to vaccination have been received at consumer affairs centers nationwide, and some of them asked the person in charge of the local government to say, "I can get the vaccine right now. In some cases, a fake phone call was received instructing, "I want you to transfer 10,000 yen."

For this reason, the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan has decided to set up the "New Corona Vaccine Fraud Consumer Hotline" from the 15th of this month to prevent the damage caused by fraud that piggybacked on vaccination.

In telephone counseling, a professional counselor will give advice on how to deal with suspicious calls and emails, so telephone calls will be accepted from 10 am to 4 pm every day, including Saturdays and Sundays.

The dedicated dial number is 0120-797-188.

Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Inoue said, "Although there is not much damage yet, the local government is preparing for vaccination in earnest, so we will raise the level of caution against malicious commercial law and take the initiative. I want to. "
