Recently, Li Daiguo, a fisherman from Gaoan Town, Dianjiang County, Chongqing City, who used to rely on fishing for three generations, is reuniting for the New Year together.

With the implementation of a perennial ban on fishing in key waters of the Yangtze River Basin and the implementation of fishing fishermen's retreat to production, Li Daiguo has also become "the last fisherman".

According to Li Daiguo, 54 years old this year, his grandfathers have been fishing in Longxi River. Since he was 11 years old, he has been fishing with his father. Every time he leaves home, it takes ten and a half months to support his family by fishing.

As the rural population gradually flooded into Changzheng, there were more and more residents in Gaoanchang Town, which caused more and more serious environmental pollution, and finally Longxi River turned into a stinky gully.

It is becoming more and more difficult to fish after river water pollution.

As a result, the local area also began to make great efforts to control the pollution of the Longxi River, including clearing the river, patrolling the river, and managing and protecting aquatic resources.

Li Daiguo also retired from fishermen's catch and switched to production, and became a member of the river inspection team to manage and protect aquatic resources.

After "washing his feet and going ashore", he lives a waged life. Although he earns less than his income from fishing, Li Daiguo understands that protecting aquatic biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance are great things that benefit future generations and must be supported unconditionally.
