300 million euros.

This is the amount that the government plans to devote to the financing of new private projects intended to fight the Covid-19 epidemic, on the model of aid which already participates in the production of vaccines in France.

The objective is to "continue to increase French production capacities intended for the fight against Covid-19", announces in a press release the Minister for Industry.

This funding is part of a vast program already announced, that of investments for the future (PIA) with a total of 20 billion euros and which goes far beyond the challenges related to the health crisis.

The 300 million euros announced on Monday will be distributed as part of a call for applications for projects aimed at fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, in particular vaccines or treatments.

The government launched a first financing of this type last year, to the tune of 160 million euros.

This envelope has helped to finance 17 projects including, in particular, the French factories which will participate within a few weeks in the manufacture of several vaccines: those of the groups Delpharm, Fareva and Recipharm.

But these funds also support Covid-19 treatment projects, such as the one developed by the Fabentech and Xenothera laboratories.

"While the health crisis has highlighted the need to gain industrial and health independence, both for the supply of drugs and medical devices, it has also shown the need to support companies relocating existing treatments or developing therapies innovative ”, summarizes the ministry.
