Between shuffleboard, pétanque and curling, the Gabaky game is born in Rennes -

  • A new indoor game has just been launched by three Rennes residents, the Gabaky.

  • This ball game is a mix of shuffleboard, pétanque and curling.

  • Former footballer Christian Karembeu is part of the adventure and has invested in the capital of the young company.

The plateau is reminiscent of the puck board, the colored circles the curling rink and the balls act as pétanque balls.

The rules are also almost similar since you have to get as close as possible to the center of the target to gain the point, with a game played at thirteen points.

And as with the puck, only the balls on the board are counted.

Mixture of these three disciplines, the Gabaky wants above all "more accessible for children and designed for the interior", according to Sébastien Destoc.

Like pétanque, Gabaky is played in thirteen winning points.

Its designer has already been immersed in the world of games and leisure for several years.

With his partner Willy Pirois, in 2014 he launched Foot Air, a company based in Bruz near Rennes and specializing in football events.

"We offer around the stadiums or in the fan-zones games around football with inflatable structures such as foot bowling or foot curling," says Sébastien Destoc.

The event activity being at a standstill since March, the two friends, joined in the meantime by Baptiste Goubin, have therefore imagined a miniature version with the Gabaky.

Marketed since the end of November, the game, sold 34.90 euros, has already sold more than 2,500 copies.

“It's a good start because we only sell online for the moment, we are in the process of canvassing brands,” says Baptiste Goubin.

In this adventure, the trio of entrepreneurs will in any case be able to count on significant support.

After testing the game during confinement, Christian Karembeu quickly fell addicted to it.

So much so that the 199 world champion invested marbles in the ball game by committing up to 15% in the capital of the company.

“This makes us a very good ambassador for popularizing the game,” emphasizes Sébastien Destoc, hoping to quickly gain new followers.

"We already have in mind to organize tournaments," he says.
