[New Year Chronicle] How do international students "Celebrate the Festival in situ": Teachers and students happily welcome the Chinese New Year with their "family"

[Live sound] (knocking on the door) coming?

Hello teacher, happy new year!

It's a good year.

[Explanation] February 4th is the twenty-third of the twelfth lunar month, and it is also a small year in the northern region.

Yu Miao, Dean of the Chinese School of Beijing International Studies University, welcomed several special guests at his home.

Three international students who stayed at the school during the winter vacation came to visit and spend their junior year with their teachers.

[Explanation] Putting window grilles, making dumplings... Under the teacher’s demonstration and explanation, the international students experienced the traditional Chinese New Year customs.

The teachers and students gathered together to narrate, which also made the middle-aged house more intense.

[Live Voice] Teachers and students make dumplings together

We northerners have a special feeling for dumplings, and eating dumplings is still very sacred to us.

You see, it mainly uses the strength of the hand to pinch it, and it cannot be pulled out flat.

Pinched tightly, so happiness and auspiciousness can be pinched tightly.

The New Year is the beginning of the New Year. This is the beginning of the New Year's prelude. Chinese people have already begun to live a busy life during the Spring Festival.

This Spring Festival is indeed very special.

Let the students come and sit at home, take a look at the daily life of Chinese teachers, experience the daily taste of Beijing citizens, and take the overseas students to spend a special Chinese New Year.

I think it is also a relief for students.

[Explanation] Li Huirui from Panama is a senior student of the Chinese Language Institute. Out of consideration of epidemic prevention and control, she decided to stay on campus during the winter vacation.

She was very interested in traditional Chinese culture and was very surprised when she received the invitation from the dean.

This year (2021) because we are all in school and can't come out, I actually didn't even know (forgot) that the Spring Festival was about to come. At that time, I had been writing papers.

I was lucky enough to receive the teacher’s invitation to come to his home, and I suddenly felt that the New Year’s atmosphere was coming again.

I have never made dumplings before, so I also want to be at the teacher's house today and can help.

[Commentary] Marcy from Mexico also told reporters that she was very happy to be reunited with her "family" in China in this way.

To make dumplings, to reunite and have dinner with the family. I also heard that all families should be washed (clean the house). This time we have the opportunity to experience the customs of the New Year.

During this special period of the epidemic, I have been in China.

My parents are particularly assured that China is safe. They know that the school will take care of us, not only our safety.

And they know that we also have a special way to spend the New Year with the "family" here and reunite together.

[Explanation] In the winter vacation of 2021, a total of 49 international students from Beijing International Studies University will stay on campus.

Affected by the global epidemic, they have not been able to return to their country and have been closed in school for nearly a year.

In this regard, the school has used various means to enrich the life of international students while ensuring that the epidemic prevention and control are in place.

So online, we organize teachers and students to pair up to carry out activities such as language counseling, cultural exchanges, and knowledge popularization; offline art workshops are also opened.

Recently, we have also organized a series of activities for international students to enter Chinese families to celebrate the New Year.

Through activities, Chinese students can tell Chinese stories well, and international students can become disseminators of Chinese culture.

All participants in a series of activities, including international students, Chinese students, and Chinese families, are required to undergo nucleic acid testing for all employees. They must scan and register at each location to form a closed-loop management.

On the premise of ensuring safety, let our international students, our Chinese students and Chinese families all have a happy, peaceful and warm Chinese traditional festival.
