It was, however, the measure phase of the bioethics bill.

This Thursday, while the Senate rejected the extension of medically assisted procreation (PMA) to female couples and singles, LGBT associations, furious, are stepping up.

The right-wing majority Senate adopted on the night of Wednesday to Thursday the bioethics bill, amputated from its emblematic measure, the opening of the PMA to all women.

This provision may however be reinstated by the deputies.

"It is absolutely lamentable", reacted to AFP Véronique Cerasoli, of SOS Homophobie.

“As of February 4, there is therefore no longer any PMA for all.

Clause 1 is rejected.

We have passed a milestone, ”she lamented.

Successive promises

"Behind that, there are women wandering for years from debate to debate, punctuated by demonstrations of opponents" to the extension of the PMA.

"It is contempt, an insult to lesbian women who have been waiting for assisted reproduction for so long."

The opening of the PMA to all women was a promise from President François Hollande (2012-2017) and then from Emmanuel Macron.

For a year, the text has been delayed due to the health crisis.

For Nicolas Faget of the association of gay and lesbian parents (APGL), “there is a lack of political ambition behind what happened in the Senate”.

“PMA for all was a promise from Emmanuel Macron but we haven't heard from him on the subject for more than two years.

Now is the time to hear it, ”he pleaded.

"Many women are waiting for this law"

"The Assembly will restore the text, so we do not worry too much", specifies Nicolas Faget.

“But that the Senate instrumentalizes families for a political fight is despicable.

It's disgusting to play with the hopes of families, ”he lost his temper.

The Senate "plays with the nerves of the French", supports in a press release the association Les Enfants d'Arc en Ciel.

“Many women are waiting for this law.

Imagine their feeling when they learned that the Senate did not grant them access to assisted reproduction!

".

On the other hand, the conservative organization La Manif pour tous welcomed the "halt to the PMA without a father".

“The mobilization paid off!

The success of the demonstrations organized by La Manif pour tous (…) prompted the senators to rewrite the bill from top to bottom, ”according to a press release.
