China News Service, Xi'an, February 2 (Reporter Alina Zhang Yichen) The reporter learned from the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau on the 1st that in 2020, the province will carry out a total of 179 archaeological projects of various types and complete archaeological surveys of approximately 609 square kilometers. Archaeological exploration was about 11.8 million square meters, 3,956 ancient tombs and 105,800 square meters were excavated.
The number of archaeological work and the number of excavated tombs exceeds historical records.
According to reports, in 2020, Shaanxi will coordinate the promotion of cultural relics protection and utilization reforms, cultural relics protection will be fully strengthened, major cultural identification projects have progressed smoothly, the construction of national cultural parks has been solidly carried out, the protection of revolutionary cultural relics has accelerated, and archaeological research and exhibition exhibitions have achieved fruitful results.
Large sites such as Yangguanzhai, Fenggao, Liujiawa, Qin Dongling and other active archeology projects are progressing smoothly and fruitful.
The Shimao and Zhaishan Stone City sites were announced by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage as one of the five major projects of "Archaeological China".
The Paleolithic cave ruins of Nanzheng Scabdong Cave and the Huangchengtai Ruins of Shenmu Shimao Site were selected as "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2019".
This is the third consecutive time that Shaanxi Province has been selected for double events. The total number of entries has so far reached 26, ranking first in the country.
Regarding the protection of Shaanxi Revolutionary Cultural Relics, the Revolutionary Cultural Relics Office was officially established.
The list of the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics in Shaanxi Province was announced. A total of 753 immovable revolutionary cultural relics in Shaanxi Province and 40,703 movable revolutionary cultural relics (sets) were included.
A special survey of unmovable revolutionary cultural relics in southern Shaanxi was carried out, and 379 revolutionary cultural relics were newly added.
Yan'an was announced as the first batch to create a national demonstration zone for the protection and utilization of cultural relics, and the preparation of the "Yan'an National Revolutionary Cultural Relics Protection and Utilization Demonstration Zone Construction Implementation Plan" was completed.
68 counties and districts in the province have been included in the list of counties in the four revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas of Shaanxi-Gansu, Sichuan-Shanxi, Shaan-Gansu-Ningxia and the Long March.
As of the end of 2020, the total number of museums in Shaanxi Province has reached 329. The province, city, county, and rural (community) museum system with diverse systems, rich types and distinctive themes has been continuously improved.
