In response to the extension of the state of emergency, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will continue to request restaurants to shorten their business hours until 8:00 pm, and to further reduce the flow of people, it is unnecessary, including during the day. I have decided to request an emergency refrain from going out.

In response to the extension of the state of emergency based on the Act on Special Measures for New Coronavirus Countermeasures until the 7th of next month, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold a meeting of the countermeasures headquarters and will take into account changes in the basic response policy of the country. We discussed the response.

In this context, the city decided to request the citizens of Tokyo to refrain from going out unnecessarily and urgently, including during the day, as it is necessary to further curb the flow of people not only at night but also during the day.

We also decided to ask businesses to continue to shorten their business hours.

Specifically, we request restaurants, coffee shops, bars, karaoke shops, etc., including taverns, to shorten their business hours to 8:00 pm in accordance with the law and to comply with industry-specific guidelines.

The event requires facility managers and organizers to limit the number of people to 5,000 and to keep the capacity to 50% or less.

We also ask department stores, movie theaters, amusement parks, etc. to cooperate so that business hours are until 8 pm as a "call" that is not based on the law.

These requests and calls to businesses are similar to those we have been implementing since last month, when the state of emergency began.
