Full-scale demolition work of the building that was a guest house in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, where a tourist boat ran on the roof due to the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, began on the 1st.

One of the buildings that conveys the earthquake has disappeared, and the issue is how to proceed with the transmission of the earthquake.

The building that used to be a guest house in Akahama, Otsuchi-cho became one of the buildings that conveys the magnitude of the damage caused by the tsunami when the tourist boat "Hamayuri" ran on the roof in the tsunami caused by the earthquake.

The ship was dismantled two months after the earthquake because of the danger of falling, but the town enacted an ordinance in 2012 to leave the building as a remains to convey the earthquake, and it costs together with the NPO corporation. We have solicited donations from all over the country.

However, the donation amount was only about 4 million yen, which is less than 1% of the target amount, so the town abandoned the preservation because there was no prospect of securing the cost.

On the 1st, heavy machinery was used to start tearing down the bent steel frames due to the force of the tsunami and the weight of the ship.According to construction personnel, the building was demolished in about a week, and by the end of this month. It means that it will be a deserted area.

In the town, the buildings that convey the earthquake have been demolished one after another in 10 years, and the issue is how to proceed with the tradition for the future.

For this reason, the town will start a concrete study of the tradition method with the participation of the townspeople in the new year.
