Analysis of wastewater is an early indicator of the level of circulation of the coronavirus in France.

Currently in some regions, the concentration of the virus in these waters is declining, particularly in Île-de-France or in the West.

But it is increasing elsewhere.

The government and health authorities are keeping their eyes on the indicators and one is rather encouraging in some areas: the concentration of the coronavirus in wastewater, which is an early signal of the level of the epidemic.

Its trend is downward in several regions, notably in Île-de-France where the decline is slight, but noticeable.

It also falls, but in a much more marked way, in the region of Lille or in the West.

Take measures at the territorial level?

On the other hand, the news is less good elsewhere.

The concentration of viruses in wastewater continues to increase in eastern France and in the south as in Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, for example.

This prompted Vincent Marechal, who heads the Obépine network which tracks the coronavirus in wastewater, to say that the measures will no doubt have to be adjusted territory by territory.

"Ile-de-France, which was taken as a barometer, is decreasing but the level of traffic is very high. And then there are situations which are otherwise very contrasted on the national territory. In my opinion, what 'you have to do, it is to ask the right questions territory by territory, to decline the most suitable measures. We can see that the measures are not necessarily the same on all the territories. "

CORONAVIRUS ESSENTIALS

> Are adolescents vectors of contamination?

> Advice from a psychotherapist to get through this period as well as possible

> How does "CleanCovid", the anti-coronavirus lamp work

> How will the citizens' committee responsible for monitoring vaccination work?

Other indicators confirm this observation.

The number of patients per 100,000 inhabitants, for example, drops very slightly at the national level to stabilize around 200, but with some departments where it continues to increase strongly in the Landes, Dordogne, Vienne and Corsica.

The number of cases detected is also hardly increasing at the national level.

Finally, the English variant is progressing, but less than what we feared: 50% more cases each week, against 70%, or even 100% in some of our European neighbors.
