FDP leader Christian Lindner has criticized the result of the vaccination summit of the federal government, the federal states and pharmaceutical companies as "unfortunately disappointing".

So far it has not been possible to catch up with other countries because of the insufficient orders, Lindner told the newspapers of the Funke media group.

The slow progress should not result in a permanent lockdown until summer.

It is now necessary to “enable openings regionally and with innovative protection concepts”, says Lindner.

Where the local situation is under control, blanket encroachments on fundamental rights are not proportionate.

Michael Theurer, the vice-chairman of the FDP parliamentary group, demanded: "Anyone who, like Chancellor Merkel, invites to the crisis summit every 14 days must also coordinate the vaccinations" and increase the pace for decisions.

Obviously, there is no other way to get a grip on the procurement of vaccines, explained Theurer.
