From February 1, the wearing of masks by Fujian catering service workers will become a legal obligation.

Prior to this, on January 21, the 25th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress of Fujian Province voted to pass the "Regulations on Wearing Masks for Food and Beverage Service Practitioners in Fujian Province", which will come into effect on February 1.

This is also China's first special legislation on wearing masks for catering service employees.

On the same day, the reporter took to the streets of Fuzhou to conduct field interviews.

  [Explanation] When the reporter visited many restaurants on Daming Road and Shengfu Road in downtown Fuzhou, it was found that most catering service employees can wear masks more consciously.

Mr. Qi from Henan runs an egg-filled biscuits snack bar on Provincial Road.

He told reporters that since the outbreak last year, he and the employees in the store have worn masks in accordance with regulations during work.

  [Explanation] During the interview, some practitioners said that they have learned about the "Regulations" through multiple channels and will pay more attention to health protection.

Wearing a mask is more hygienic and healthy, so that droplets will not be sprayed on the guests, and then hats and masks are necessary.

  [Explanation] Afterwards, the reporter went to the underground business district of Dongbai Center in Fuzhou, where there are many snack shops and the flow of people is not small.

The reporter found that most catering employees can wear masks as required.

If there is a law now, everyone will be more serious about this, and the attitude will be different.

  [Explanation] The reporter has noticed that the “Regulations” specify that catering service practitioners who directly contact imported food such as processing, production, and delivery of food should wear clean masks when working.

The main body of catering operations shall accept the supervision of the public, industry associations and media.

So, what consequences will catering service employees bear if they don't wear masks?

The "Regulations" clarify that employees who fail to wear masks as required should be ordered to make corrections. If they refuse to make corrections, individual industrial and commercial households will be fined 50 yuan, and other catering business entities will be fined 200 yuan up to 1,000 yuan.
