In the past few days, in the wetland below the Danjiangkou Dam in Hubei, the core water source area of the middle route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, countless birds have been feeding and cruising in the water, attracting many photographers and citizens to stop and take pictures.
In recent years, Danjiangkou City has focused on environmental protection work. With the successful completion of the ban on catching and returning to catch, the ecology of the Danjiangkou Reservoir Area has been significantly improved, and the number of birds overwintering in Danjiangkou has increased year by year.
The overwintering waterfowl observation record organized by the Danjiangkou Natural Resources and Planning Bureau showed that 44,207 waterfowls of 31 species have gathered in Danjiangkou.
Among them, 15 species of waterbirds that are listed as endangered species in the "World Conservation Union", such as green shank, Dong chicken, crested pochard, gray-headed wheat chicken, and ring-necked plover, also appeared in it.
